There was an amazing study conducted by two economists from Oxford which essentially show the same thing and point to a similar conclusion

It basically demonstrates that technology will replace jobs, even 'professional jobs' such as economists/accountants/pilots/auditors and a few others.
In essence, economists are seeing a trend of a 'hollowing' middle class and polarised wealth levels.
However Schumpters creative destruction theory suggests this is a good thing and we should avoid becoming Luddites!
